A short drive (or a leisurely 40-minute walk) led us to the quaint village of Cuckfield. Charming pubs and eateries lined the streets, offering a taste of local flavours and warm hospitality.

Our stay at The Hyde took an unexpected turn when I fell ill with a severe stomach ache. In a moment of distress, we reached out to our hosts for assistance. To our relief, they responded promptly with practical help. From providing soothing medicines to the thoughtful gesture of a hot water bottle, their kindness and hospitality were greatly appreciated. • Lake Access: You’re welcome to use the provided row boat for peaceful excursions on the lake. However, swimming is prohibited due to wildlife, reeds, and silt around the edges.
• Bathroom: Do note that the bathroom is outside, but just nearby, across some grassy turf. If there wasn’t a big storm one of the nights, it would have been easier to access otherwise.
• Warmth: It is fully insulated and features a woodburner, which heats up pretty quickly and effectively.
• Important Note: Although The Hyde offers a secluded setting, occasional distant family sounds may be audible. Additionally, the owners’ family and their friendly pup share the space or may pop by to say hello! They are the sweetest bunch of pups.
